Dennis
Pugsley - Bass Guitar/Vocals (+guitar/harmonica)
Den
co-founded the affectionately remembered early 80s 'power pop'
tunesmiths The Pencils, and wrote their three singles
(released on Next Records 1982/83).
Den, along with another 'ex-Pencil' Tony Skeggs, then formed The Green in 1988 where they teamed up with drummer Steve Phypers (see separate biography).
With a
shared love of great 60s songs and dynamic performance Den, Tony and
Steve founded The Overtures
in 1990.
In 1994
Den was commissioned to write two songs for Merlin's Beatles video
('Behind The Beat', 'In Spite Of All The Danger') and has a song featured in the Oscar nominated short film Killing
Joe (Joy Films).
He has also composed the band's available original material: Piccadilly Goodbye; Don't Wait Too Long; Hole In The Ground, Forever England and others.
